Approve how the cap sits, inside and out.
Start from your fit reference
For OEM, mark the crown depth, brim curve and rear opening to retain from your current cap. Photograph the measurement points so the reference is reproducible.
Develop an original profile
For ODM, explain the wearer and desired fit character. Identify which parts should feel relaxed and which should hold shape, then assess the assembled sample from front, side and rear.

“Dad cap” or “structured cap” leaves room for interpretation. Share a side view and say whether you want a relaxed crown or a front that holds its shape.

Before you commit to a sample
Can the same artwork be used on relaxed and structured crowns?
It can be proposed for both, but the surface and support differ. Share the artwork at its intended finished size and review its appearance on each sample rather than assuming the result will be identical.
How do I specify the fit of an existing cap?
Send the reference and the dimensions you already use, with photographs showing where you measured. Identify which aspects must stay consistent and which may change; confirm the measuring method during development.
What should I review inside the sample?
Review the sweatband, seam finish, label placement and closure attachment alongside the external shape. Put any brand-specific requirements in the brief so the approved reference includes the inside as well as the outside.
