What does “per style, per color” mean?
MOQ means minimum order quantity. At FORMBRIM, the stated bulk minimum is 100 pieces for each style-and-color combination. It does not apply once to the total number of hats in your collection. A black baseball cap and a black bucket hat have separate minimums because they are different styles.
Think of each finished combination as a separate line in the order. Give it a style code, a complete colorway and a quantity. This is easier to check than a moodboard with several hats and one number underneath. It also avoids counting a sample as part of a bulk order before that arrangement has been discussed.
Three examples—and one order below the minimum
One baseball cap design in navy: 100 pieces meets the stated minimum. The same design in navy and cream: 100 of each, or 200 total. A navy baseball cap plus a navy bucket hat: again 100 of each, because sharing a color does not make them one style.
Now consider 50 navy baseball caps and 50 cream baseball caps. The total is 100, but each color is below the minimum. Adding more pieces to an unrelated bucket hat line does not resolve that shortfall. Quantities need to work at the individual line level.
- Style A / navy / 100 pieces: one combination.
- Style A / cream / 100 pieces: a second combination.
- Style B / navy / 100 pieces: a third combination.
- Illustrative collection total: 300 pieces across three combinations.

Does a two-tone cap count as two colors?
A cream crown with a navy brim is one finished colorway. It is not an order of separate cream hats and navy hats. Describe the combination as a whole and map crown, brim top, underbrim, closure and artwork colors so there is no ambiguity about what will be delivered.
A second version with a cream crown and green brim is another finished colorway. If the logo, closure or fabric changes, list that variation explicitly. Do not assume every change is covered by the first line because the main crown color stays the same. Confirm the final grouping against the actual specification.
Simplifying a first collection
A smaller number of well-defined combinations makes a first run easier to review. The commercial question is which options your customers need, not how many colors can fit on a product page. If demand is uncertain, compare a focused launch with a broader assortment before developing every version.
Four colorways at 100 pieces require 400 pieces of one design. Two colorways at 100 pieces require 200. This arithmetic is not a sales forecast, and it does not establish the right stock level for your brand. It shows the quantity commitment attached to each assortment choice. Keep your own demand assumptions separate from the factory minimum.
MOQ does not establish price or lead time
Meeting the minimum does not establish a unit price. Fabric, decoration, labels, packing and the agreed scope still belong in the quotation. Two orders with the same piece count can involve different products and development work. Ask for the quoted specification beside the price so you can compare like with like.
Samples are a separate discussion. FORMBRIM’s sampling reference is 7–10 working days, and bulk production is 30–45 working days. These figures do not include an assumed review period or delivery transit time. Minimum quantity is not a shortcut for promising a launch date.
What to send if your plan is below 100 pieces
Explain the product, number of finished combinations and quantity for each. You can contact us with a smaller plan, but the published minimum remains 100 pieces per style and color unless a different arrangement is explicitly agreed. Do not base a launch plan on an assumed exception.
Send one row per combination, the artwork revision, material preference, destination and required arrival date. If you are deciding between assortments, show both. One style in two colors versus two styles in one color each gives the discussion a specific commercial decision to resolve.
